Abstract :
The work presents a feasibility study on the possible bioradar devices usage for contactless monitoring of the laboratory animals respiratory rhythm. Experiments are performed in laboratory conditions on sleeping rats by using two SFCW radars operating at frequency ranges of 3.6-4.0 GHz and 13.8-14.2 GHz. Respiration pattern and movement activity of a rat were monitored by each radar. Experimental results analysis revealed that usage of higher probing frequencies is more preferable and allows reliable estimation of respiratory pattern of laboratory animals in sleep.
