Abstract
In this paper, a dual-band antenna with parasitic elements for WBAN applications is proposed. By combining the resonance of a dipole antenna with that of a slit resonance of that, dual-band characteristic is achieved. Parasitic elements are used to control the resonant frequency. To account for the human body effect on the antenna characteristics, the antenna performance is investigated by using a human equivalent flat phantom. A return loss characteristic of the antenna is insensitive to the existence of the phantom. The antenna has radiation characteristic suitable for on-body communication applications.
