Abstract :
Our world is digitising and our life is changing: the Internet and the use of its services has become an important part of our daily life within a relatively short time period. The need for efficient communication networks and high data rates and as well as related subsystems has remarkably increased during the last years due to the rising demand of broadband services like video and TV in fixed-line and especially in mobile telecommunication networks. Nevertheless, several barriers have to be tackled to fulfil the requirements of future communication systems. Various technologies, techniques and algorithms have been developed in the last decades, and researchers are working on the definition of new standards and future communication systems in order to allow for high-data rate communication making efficient use of scarce resources. A lot of effort has been spent, and research activities have been established and performed in order to give answers to the challenge of increasing the spectral efficiency and improving the bit-error rate with the constraint of finding the implementation of algorithms with moderate complexity.
