Abstract :
The development of computer science and applications changes with each passing day. The software companies and research institutions put forward higher requirements for computer science majors´ professional capacity and creative ability. However, many problems still exist in the current status of teaching computer science majors and directly affect the quality of professional training, so it brings new challenges for teachers to cultivate students´ professional ability. The paper proposes the computer science majors´ capacity improvement model, relying on academic discipline competition. This mode includes two aspects: on the one hand, the improvement of the curriculum system according to the characteristics of the various discipline competitions; on the other hand, the establishment of the collaboration between teachers and students, as well as the mechanism of teaching quality assurance. Through the statistics and K-means clustering analysis of the dataset about the employment and competition awards of graduates during the past three years, the result shows that the model of computer science majors´ capacity improvement relying on academic discipline competitions is feasible. Moreover, the employability of the awarding students can effectively be improved, thus they have better career development prospects.
