Abstract :
The present paper deals with the application of the real time optimal reconfiguration of a radial power distribution system using three Meta-heuristic optimization algorithms; the Biogeography Based Optimization (BBO), the particle swarm optimization (PSO) and the Genetic algorithms (GAO). The main objective is to minimize the active power loss in the whole system while keeping the voltage at each node in the whole distribution system above certain required threshold based on real time information of the power flow and voltages of the studied system. A detailed performance analysis is applied on four standard IEEE networks 14-bus, 33-bus, 69-bus and 84-bus to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology and the used optimization algorithms.
