Abstract
We report a new method to excite and image the fundamental mode in coupled cylindrical dielectric resonators (DRs). A microstrip line resonator was used to excite the fundamental mode in the first DR of the coupled DR chain and a `dielectric´ pick-up probe was used to map the electric field patterns. The probe consisted of an open-ended tapered stripline sandwiched between two grounded dielectric slabs. Probe´s field was polarized and its output was maximum for parallel fields. The experimental field patterns matched the analytical and simulated field patterns at 7.53 GHz.
