Abstract :
This work focuses on achieving small bitrate loss while the encoding complexity can be reduced significantly in HEVC inter prediction. In brief, a fast CTU depth decision algorithm is proposed for high resolution application of HEVC. After the neighboring block depths are selected, then the current CTU maximum depth is estimated based on neighboring CTU depth. Secondly, on the basis of motion homogeneity analysis of a CU, the depth selection of current CTU can be early determined and the depth is set to zero on a certain condition. This algorithm has excellent performance for high resolution application of HEVC. The simulation experiment results demonstrate that, this method can reduce the coding time about 43% with only 0.51% BD-rate loss.
