Abstract
The combination of extensive cable networks, shunt capacitor banks, wind turbines has been identified as a potential cause of resonances in the offshore wind energy conversion system. A detailed approach for the doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) harmonic penetration and resonance mitigation study is developed in this paper. A brief harmonic sources assessments are made based on the typical offshore wind generation system, followed by the study for impacts of the length of the cable variation and the static reactive power compensation. Then the method of resonances and harmonics mitigation with a designed C-type filter is proposed, and proved by a case study.
