Abstract :
With the rapid development of both the size and intricacy of the power system, power system is gradually approaching its operating limit. System islanding is usually considered as the ultimate control action to preserve as many stable areas as possible. The islanding strategy plays an important role in the power system restoration as it determines whether the islands can make safe and steady operation or not. Nowadays, study of controlled islanding strategy is relatively rich enough. This paper proposes an evaluation method, with which we can easily acknowledge the feasibility and optimality of different controlled islanding schemes. This paper utilizes the concept of power-frequency sensitivity, which is the core of the evaluation theory. Both the deviation of frequency and active power of the islands are the norms in the evaluation process, and they almost determine the operation status of the splitting islands. In order to show the validity of the algorithm, the algorithm is applied to IEEE 118 Bus System and a comparison between the proposed method and the actual operating results of the system.
