Abstract :
We consider a method for selecting small number of areas, which is useful to find a good location from a lot of candidate areas. Skyline query is a well known method for selecting small number of desirable objects. It selects objects that are not dominated by another object. In this paper, we consider a method for selecting areas that are not dominated by another area. Different from general skyline query, selecting areas is more complicated because we are considering unfixed shaped areas in this paper and an area´s properties are changed if its shape is changed. Experimental evaluations for verifying the feasibility of the proposed method shows that our approach is able to find desirable unfixed shape areas, which are skyline areas, from an integrated geographic information system.
