Abstract :
Recent research has demonstrated that human arm laterality, also known as handedness, is not a trivial difference in motor proficiency, but a specialization for performing various motor tasks. This study investigated the co-contraction of biceps brachii and triceps brachii during postural fixation of the arms. Results obtained from EMG and hand position displacement studies suggested that co-contraction is greater in a non-dominant hand, compared with in a dominant hand, this provides an advantage to the non-dominant hand during postural fixation.
