Abstract :
A printed dual-element multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) ultra wideband (UWB) antenna is proposed by integrating slot and stub techniques into its common ground plane. Two identical UWB antennas with quarter-circular radiating patch and trapezoidal shaped ground plane are placed side by side at a distance of 8mm to design a dual-element MIMO UWB antenna. To reduce the coupling between these two UWB antennas, a slot and a T-shaped stub with a fork are integrated into the common ground plane. The designed MIMO-UWB antenna achieves a high isolation which is better than -18 dB over the operating band from 2.71 GHz to 11.67 GHz. By using HFSS, the simulated results show that the proposed MIMO-UWB antenna can provide a wide bandwidth to cover the entire UWB band and a high isolation to reduce the coupling, which makes it suitable for any wireless modules applications at the UWB range.
