Abstract :
A variation of bowtie printed dipole antenna is proposed and designed for a digital beamforming (DBF) array in Digital Video Broadcasting-Terrestrial (DVB-T) based passive radar applications. The proposed sleeve bowtie dipole reflector antenna element has a wider beamwidth/bandwidth than that of conventional bowtie/half-wavelength dipole reflector antenna, providing useful wider field of view and wider bandwidth for the DVB-T based passive radar applications. The proposed antenna has a bandwidth of 20.6% over the DVB-T band and an E-plane beamwidth 73° with more than 20% beam broadening effect.
