Abstract
Fibromyalgia (FM) syndrome has a prevalance between %2-8 worldwide. Exact reason of this syndrome has not been known yet, besides functional neuroimaging studies in this area has become quite popular due to thought of abnormality in pain processing and/or psychological factors that causes this syndrome. In this study, we applied painful stimuli with transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) to participants´ right and left hand. At the same time, we acquired functional near infrared spectroscopy signals and applied support vector machine (SVM) method by using polynomial functions in different orders to the feature vector that we created. According to our results,by using fNIRS signals in post central gyrus and angular gyrus in inferior parietal gyrus, discrimination between FM patients and healthy controls could be achieved approximately %70 performance.
