Abstract :
This paper presents a third order quadrature sinusoidal oscillator based on CMOS/floating gate CMOS (FGCMOS) inverters. The proposed design uses only three CMOS/FGCMOS inverters (6 MOSFETs), three grounded capacitors and two grounded resistors which makes it suitable for fully integrated circuits. The proposed circuit exhibits attractive features such as low component count, low voltage requirement and simpler in design as compared to conventional circuits based on active building blocks (ABBs). The frequency of oscillation (FO) and condition of oscillation (CO) can be independently controlled in the proposed oscillator. The CMOS inverter operates at ± 0.9 V while FGCMOS inverter operates at ± 0.6V. The workability of the proposed quadrature oscillator has been verified by using Mentor Graphics Eldo simulation tool with TSMC CMOS 0.18 μm process parameters. The layout and experimental result of proposed quadrature oscillator has also been given.
