Abstract :
A proper assembly sequence results in lowered lead time and optimal cost of assembly. Therefore choosing a proper assembly sequence is highly essential. There has been significant research in the field of assembly sequence planning (ASP) problem and thousands of different methods have been developed to address such problems. In this paper a comparison of the performance of heuristic based methods with the artificial intelligence based methods for ASP problems has been established. This comparison is well demonstrated by executing a heuristic based method i.e Liaison concatenation and Simulated Annealing, an artificial intelligence based method on a gear assembly and the results are analyzed.
