Abstract
Every organization whether it be an enterprise or academic institute, should maintain a proper documentation of attendance of staff or students for effective functioning of their organization. Generally there are two methods of taking attendance in a classroom- calling out students name one by one or taking students signature on paper. However each of those strategies are time consuming, inefficient and moreover proxy can be easily given by students if strength of class is large since it is not possible to verify each student in person. A good amount of the time is wasted in taking attendance and even then many times attendance don´t seem to be marked properly. Proxy of students in classroom is a perpetual problem that has to be addressed. Therefore an attendance management system is required which not only authenticates the student but also detect proxies. In this paper we combine privacy preservation and collusion resistance to propose an attendance system which uses an android application to mark student´s attendance in the classroom and detect proxies given by students. It exploits the Bluetooth technology to ensure student is present in class itself rather than in the canteen or in the library. Based on the attendance given by students, a trust factor is assigned to each student to determine how trustworthy a student is.
