Abstract
We presents a novel printed monopole antenna for ultra-wideband application with dual band-notch characteristics. The proposed antenna consists of a small square radiating patch with Π-shaped and W-shaped slots cut inside the square radiating patch and a ground plane with a pair of C-shaped slots, which provide a broad fractional bandwidth of more than 119% (3.0-11.8GHz). To realize band-notch performance a Π-shaped and W-shaped slots cut inside the square radiating patch and we can control band-notch characteristics such as notch frequency and its bandwidth by varying dimensions of Π-shaped and W-shaped slots. The designed antenna has a small size 12×18 mm2. The simulated results reveal that the presented band-notch square monopole antenna offers a very wide bandwidth with dual band notched covering 3.3/4.2 GHz WiMAX and 5/5.96GHz WLAN. The Antenna Complies with the Return loss S11<; -10 dB and Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) <; 2 throughout impedance bandwidth.
