Abstract :
The conventional digital computational hardware blocks with different structures are destined to produce precise results. For almost any multimedia application the human eye is the receiver of information. Owing to the fact that human eye is capable of gathering intended information from slightly erroneous output also, this work deals with the design of low power inexact 4:2 compressor using approximation as basic techniques. Power consumption is primary concern while designing computationally intensive blocks. Inexact 4:2 compressor utilizes trade-off between accuracy and power consumption. The power consumption as well as switched capacitance of complex logic of 4:2 compressor is simplified by reducing number of transistors. The effectiveness of the proposed design is verified by the simulation experiments and analysis.
