Abstract
In this paper, the positioning system that uses a direct sequence spread spectrum (DS/SS) inter-vehicle communication (IVC) scheme based on location oriented pseudo noise (PN) code allocation is studied. Although this DS/SS-IVC scheme can avoid the impact of hidden terminals, it has a problem. Since each vehicle obtains PN code based on the position that is estimated by GPS, communication performance degrades when GPS positioning error occurs. Therefore, the positioning system of DS/SS-IVC scheme is discussed in this paper. To improve the positioning accuracy, elimination of ranging data that has large ranging error is proposed. Furthermore, in this paper, positioning performance is also evaluated under the case that ranging data transmitted from near vehicles is used preferentially. As the results, the positioning error can be mitigated by applying these proposed techniques.
