Abstract
This paper presents an MCDM model for preventive maintenance applied to a real problem regarding wells for water distribution. Depending on the location and the importance of the well such decision is taken considering various criteria and different priorities. In the particular situation approached a maintenance manager must define the preventive maintenance interval on wells for water distribution, which occurs almost 200 times for this specific water distributor company considering each well maintenance interval. Therefore it is an important problem considering that many water distribution systems use wells for water distribution. The case study was carried out on a region that suffers from a shortage of water. The model proposed uses the PROMETHEE II method associated with a maintenance and reliability modelling to assist the decision-maker (DM). The result of this application enables a ranking of alternatives whose consequences are described in terms of the criteria defined by the DM: availability, reliability of the system and cost.
