Abstract :
A Key Pre-distribution Scheme for a sensor network is an essential part for the security of information collected by a sensor node. A set of keys are required to be pre-distributed prior to deployment of the sensor nodes. These keys are used to encrypt the collected sensitive data from a targeted area. Key Pre-distribution schemes (KPS) are methods for allocating symmetric cryptographic keys to sensor nodes in a network. As sensor nodes are of less storage capacity and low computation power leads to a trade-off between key storage, connectivity and resilience, where resilience is the measure of the network´s ability to withstand damage from an adversary, the limited storage and computational capacities of the nodes are an important consideration in the design of a key pre-distribution scheme. Here we discuss different desirable measures for a good key pre-distribution scheme for a wireless sensor network.
