  • Abstract
A simple way to remove impulse noise from digital pictures in three stages is as: the primary step is to detect the impulse noise in a picture. Then, next step is to eliminate the impulse noise from a picture. During this step, only the “corrupted-pixels” are processed. The projected algorithmic rule substitutes the noisy picture element by median value when different picture element, 0´s and 255´s are present within the chosen mask. Once all element values are 0´s and 255´s then the corrupted element is substituted by mean of all the elements present within the chosen mask. Then edge preservation is third step. The projected algorithmic rule is tested with totally different grey scale images. Additionally planned UTAMF algorithmic rule is implemented on FPGA.
