Abstract :
Variable nature of solar PV makes it difficult to maintain an acceptable on-grid behavior of a PV plant under diverse load and network conditions. Battery energy storage (BES) devices are being proposed for making the PV plants behave in a grid-friendly manner. Given the variability of PV power output, a multi-faceted control regime is necessary to cope with different control demands at different conditions of PV generation. This paper makes suggestion on some essential control features for BES systems for improving the on-grid behavior of commercial scale solar PV plants.
