Abstract :
This paper discusses the problem of designing a rural microgrid in a developing country. The problem is addressed by considering a set of farmers located in a remote location, so local wind sources are considered to generate electric power. The case considered supposes enough energy along the month, but peak period is supplied with the help of batteries. In this sense, definition of the wind sources capacity as well as the size of the batteries is discussed. The realistic tests carried out show the microgrid as feasible.
