  • Abstract
Recently, several practical DC and AC power transmission experiments using high Tc superconducting (HTS) materials such as Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O (BSCCO) and YBa2Cu3O7 (YBCO) have been already carried out in the world. We analyzed critical current of BSCCO and YBCO power transmission lines by use of the two dimensional time dependent Ginzburg-Landau equation and found that the critical current of HTS power transmission line depended on the ratio that the c-axis of the crystal structure oriented in the direction that the superconducting current flowed through. Experiments using BSCCO power transmission line made in Sumitomo Electric Industries were also carried out.
