Abstract :
A new relaxation oscillator using a superconducting Schmitt trigger inverter is proposed and tested. The superconducting Schmitt trigger inverter is composed of a threshold gate using coupled superconducting interference devices (SQUIDs). The oscillator is based on the general concept using the Schmitt trigger inverter and a delayed feedback loop. The designed relaxation oscillator is fabricated by a 2.5kA/cm2 Nb/AlOx/Nb process and tested. The operation of a fabricated relaxation oscillator is experimentally demonstrated.
