Abstract :
The measurement of time interval required in many research areas and applications, such as particular physics experiment, testing of integrated circuits (IC), instruments for space application, laser range measurement, biomedical applications and UV images etc. This measurement circuit requires wide range of gain, high accuracy and resolution. In this, a programmable time interval measurement circuit is designed which provides wide range of gain. A 5-bit binary control of current source and reference voltage is used to provide a variable gain ranging 120-300 for a wide dynamic input range. The amplifier works under the supply voltage of 1.8 V and consumes 40.66 μW of power. The proposed work is implemented in 180nm technology using CADENCE tool.
