Abstract :
The paper presents a variety of issues related to the development of a highly efficient electric drive having a synchronous reluctance motor. Results are presented on the comparison experiments investigating the characteristics of induction and synchronous reluctance motors. Conclusions are made concerning the economic feasibility of using a synchronous reluctance motor for a number of industrial applications.
