Abstract :
This paper presents the comparison between mechanical circuit breaker and solid state circuit breaker under abnormal conditions for low voltage systems. According to the mechanical circuit breaker, the operation was limited on the fault types, detection method and operation error. The solid state circuit breaker is proposed to protect those events using Thyristor as switching device and detection controller in single phase power system. The design shows the operation scheme under 220V, 30A rating by using in low voltage system for supporting the smart home in the future. The simulation result showed that the comparison between mechanical circuit breaker and solid state circuit breaker under abnormal conditions. The paper can verify that this study can be designed the method of novel solid state circuit breaker for future applications.
