  • Abstract
This is paper on traction motor design for a Tram-Train which takes into consideration of a permanent magnet scattering. A Tram-Train is a railway vehicle that runs at the maximum speed of 70km/h in downtown area and at the maximum speed of 150km/h in-between cities. For this reason, a Tram-Train has characteristics of a wide variable speed area, requiring a traction motor design that is appropriate for the purpose. Accordingly, in this paper, wide variable speed characteristics through field weakening current control and interior permanent-magnet synchronous motors (IPMSM) that is necessary for high speed are proposed. But since IPMSM is in the shape of a permanent magnet that is inserted within the interior of a rotor, scattering problems that are caused by a strong centrifugal force occur. Therefore, in this paper, a design that is suitable for the requirements of a Tram-Train and that takes the scattering problem into consideration was implemented.
