Abstract
A novel open-circuit fault diagnostic method for dual-winding fault-tolerant permanent magnet (DFPM) motor drive system is proposed and investigated. The proposed open-circuit fault diagnostic method uses the normalized currents´ average values and average absolute values to formulate the diagnostic variables and incorporates the merits of them. Due to the normalized diagnostic variables and the introduction of currents´ average absolute values, the false alarms are avoided effectively and the open-circuit fault can be detected and located more accurately and real-timely. The simulation results prove the reliability and effectiveness of the proposed open-circuit fault diagnostic method.
