Abstract :
To decrease the switching loss and to reduce the surge voltage and current of a Matrix Converter (MC) using a high carrier frequency, the auxiliary resonant commutated pole (ARCP), a soft switching technique, is applied to a MC (ARCPMC). The ARCPMC system has an auxiliary switch linked to each output phase. The auxiliary switch generates the switching and conduction losses. This paper aims to examine by comparison the losses of ARCPMC with conventional MC through experimental and mathematical analysis.
