Abstract :
Mathematical modeling of single-phase shaded pole induction motor (SPIM), despite its simple construction, is rather complicated. This paper proposes dynamic modeling of SPIM using winding function approach. The core loss is also included by considering an appropriate resistance in parallel to the stator main winding. No-load test results along with Genetic Algorithm (GA) are used for more exact estimation of required parameters of the motor. Correctness of modeling and simulation process is verified by comparison to experimental results. In particular, this model helps to study SPIM performance due to the stator loops position and resistance as well as the rotor bars skewing and resistance.
