Abstract
A new method for the estimation of the quality factor and vibration amplitude of a piezoelectric-actuated system is described. According to the conservation of energy, equation between input electrical power and the energy dissipated in the mechanical part could be established. Given the piezoelectric actuator impedance and the system impedance, the vibration amplitude can be obtained in function of input voltage. An example on a rectangular plate with two piezoelectric actuators is reported and the maximum relative error between the amplitude estimation and direct measurement is 24%.
