  • Abstract
Hybridization of Automobile powertrain is a powerful strategy towards reducing emissions and enhancing fuel economy. However the benefit of a HEV, depends solely on the energy management strategy involved. A variety of algorithms have been proposed so far, which are often computationally complex and/or require several iterations of vehicle testing. Herein, we propose a very cost-effective and time-saving approach of tuning HEV control parameters that can predict the emissions and fuel consumption on any given drive cycle, for the given vehicle. We describe in detail the proposed control strategy and provide experimental data demonstrating the efficacy of the same.
