Abstract :
This paper presents fault ride through capability enhancement of Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) by using Superconducting Fault Current Limiter (SFCL). The specific model of a resistive-type SFCL based on Bi-2212 is implemented to accomplish the DFIG fault ride through improvement. Denmark grid code requirement with below 100 kV is interestingly considered as a criterion of this paper. The study cases are divided into two parts, which are case A for line to line fault and case B for three phase fault. The line to line and three phase faults are supposed to evaluate the characteristics of the Bi-2122 Superconducting Coil (SC) along with fault ride through evaluation. The results of DFIG-based wind turbine with the SFCL for fault ride through evaluation at disparate events are totally investigated that the SFCL effectively enhances the fault ride through performance of DFIG.
