On acquisition of high-quality video from unmanned vehicles

Unmanned ground and air vehicles are increasingly used for various applications such as area surveillance, security, geographical mapping, etc. In most applications, an important factor limiting their performance is the quality of images transmitted from the vehicle. We discuss options and current limitations for elements in the video and sensor data transmission chain and summarize our experimental evaluation of beyond-high-definition video acquisition from an unmanned vehicle.
