Abstract :
This research presents a version of a simplified algorithm for face expression analysis based on a novel approach which targets to determine emotional valence and intensity using a reduced number of eight Facial Characteristic Points and two type of textures in the face for a better processing time, as an alternative for statistical pattern recognition which characterize the most of the nowadays software. In this context, the prospective implementation of herein algorithm would represent an important add-on to the existent psychological solutions performed for evaluation, selection, training and recovery of individuals in critical professions, especially, of astronauts before, during and after prolonged human space flights.
