Abstract :
The pain generated by the orofacial injuries creates discomfort, disability and affects the quality of life. The study included 66 rheumatic patients having orofacial myogenic pain: 32 patients with rheumatoid arthritis and 34 patients with osteoarthritis. The aim of the study was to diagnose correctly the orofacial pain and to identify the most efficient methods of kinetic treatment in order to fight off the orofacial myogenic pain. Mean values of VAS scores are higher in patients with arthritis (p=0.001) and showed significant decreases developments in both groups (p=0.001). The muscle pain reference decreases, persisting at the end of the study for 37.5% of patients with arthritis and 11.8% of those with osteoarthritis (p=0.001). The ATM index developments highlighted the decrease in both groups (p=0.001). Movement therapy for the rheumatic patients with orofacial disorders, pains and spasms, ultrasound confirmed, caused a significant reduction in the symptoms after 6 months of treatment.
