Abstract :
The study analyses the effect of changes in the mechanical parameters of the respiratory system of the mannequin HPS upon its vital functions during mechanical lung ventilation. The study includes experimental verification of optimal ventilator settings to maintain blood gases at normal physiological values for volume and pressure controlled ventilation. The interaction between mechanical parameters of the respiratory system, vital functions of the simulator and mechanical lung ventilation is demonstrated. Tensions of blood pressures are discussed for a combination of changes in mechanical parameters of the respiratory system.
