Abstract :
In this study, the effect of surface roughness on electrochemical behavior of Ti-6Al-4V alloy has been investigated by open circuit potential, potentiodynamic polarization and cyclic voltammetry techniques. Corrosion resistance of biomedical Ti-6Al-4V alloy was evaluated in terms of passivation and pitting corrosion behavior. Experiments were performed in Fusayama Meyer saliva. The results show that the passivation behavior of the Ti-6Al-4V alloy was affected by the surface roughness parameter. Consequently, the corrosion current and the pitting tendency of the Ti-6Al-4V alloy also increases with the increase of surface roughness. It was established that the decreased roughness improves the corrosion properties of biomedical Ti-6Al-4V alloy.
