Abstract :
This paper presents a device to optimize and to standardize umbilical cord blood collection. An experimental study has been performed to determine a linear predictive model of the collected blood volume. A passive disposable device has been studied and designed in order to create a vacuum condition around the collection bag. The creation of a controlled depression by the Blood Extractor medical device shows a great improvement in harvested blood quantity compared with traditional gravity action harvesting method.
