Abstract :
Current power generation scenarios all over the world are not climate friendly as the generation systems are mainly dependent on fossil fuels that produce greenhouse gas (GHG) which contributes to global warming. This paper conducts a feasibility analysis to explore the potentialities of green energy at Kuakata in Bangladesh. The considered renewable energies for investigation are solar and wind. Initially, a hybrid model has been designed with varying the contribution of renewable resources for the considered coastal region of Bangladesh using Hybrid Optimization Model for Electric Renewable (HOMER) software. This model explores a suitable design for mini-grid by varying the capacity of wind and solar units. Also, a comparison has been carried out for different models on the basis of GHG emission. The simulation results show that the proposed grid-PV-wind hybrid power system model with 76% renewable fraction is most suitable, economical and eco-friendly for the considered region.
