Abstract
This paper proposes a novel integrated light-emitting diodes (LEDs) driver with power-factor correction (PFC), suitable for streetlighting applications. The presented LED driver integrates a buck-boost converter with a flyback converter into a single-stage conversion circuit topology. The inductor inside the buck-boost-type sub-circuit is designed to operate in discontinuous-conduction mode (DCM) while the magnetizing inductor inside the flyback-type sub-circuit is designed to work at boundary-conduction mode (BCM) for fulfilling input-current shaping. The derivation and analysis of operational modes for the integrated LED driver are included. In addition, a prototype driver for supplying a 54W-rated LED streetlight module with input utility-line voltages ranging from 90 V to 130 V has been implemented and tested. High power factor, low current total-harmonic distortion (THD), and satisfying circuit efficiency are obtained from experimental results by measuring the prototype LED driver, and these outcomes demonstrate the functionality of the proposed circuit.
