Abstract :
The basic principles and the latest developments of contactless energy transfer techniques with special focus on inductively coupled solutions have been systematically described in this paper. The advantages and limitations have been briefly examined, and the application field where each technique is particularly suited has been indicated. The bidirectional inductive power transfer (IPT) system developed by authors in the Electrotechnical Institute, Warsaw, has been described and some oscillograms that illustrate properties of the 15 kW laboratory model are shown.
