Message from chair

The Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC) keeps growing and, in its 17th edition, has reached another milestone: we had more than 200 submissions, which allowed us to produce a high quality technical program. Moreover, the organizing committee has added three student awards, one in each of our technical fields: Power Systems, Electronics and Computer Science where the first author being a student is the main requirement. As for our conference, this is the second time to be held at Ixtapa, Zihuatanejo; a paradisiac beach destiny in M?xico hosted by the Instituto Tecnol?gico de la Costa Grande (ITCG), who will be acting as the local committee. By the way, from November, the ITCG IEEE Student Branch will formally be part of the IEEE Centro Occidente Section, our warmest welcome to them. We are just taking a break in the itinerant nature of the ROPEC conference but will be here in 2016 for sure. All that in order to provide our attendees an environment where fruitful discussions can flourish, and, perhaps, will become future collaborations to push forward the state of the art of the topics the ROPEC has always been involved in. Today, the ROPEC is recognized as an IEEE Conference, our proceedings are hosted in IEEExplore, and indexed by ISI Thomson, the main conference indexing body in the world. Moreover, from the 2016 ROPEC edition and on, our conference will be assigned an ISSN code, which surely will open new opportunities for our conference to grow. Because of the previous facts, we believe our conference is the best in Mexico of its type. In this edition, speakers from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, M?xico, Syria, UK, USA and Venezuela will bring us their latest research to feed the conference main activity. On the other hand, there will be several keynote speakers who will tell us about the actual trends in their respective fields of knowledge. As an extra bonus, our industrial exhibition participants will be given the chance to talk about the fields they are impacting on. Last but not least, we give you a warm welcome to the ROPEC 2015 were you will be able to build up new friendships which surely will last for long and will help you later in the networking process of your professional life. All of you are invited to enjoy your stay in this colorful world called Ixtapa, Zihuatanejo.
