Abstract
Social networks constitute an emerging and rapidlyspreading technology that has changed the way of humancommunication and cooperation. In this paper, we study thelearning capabilities of social networks and platforms likeTwitter, Wikispaces and TodaysMeet in line with pedagogicalapproaches and training activities with the aim to assist teachersand scaffold students´ learning needs. The educationalcapabilities of these social networks has been studied in realclassroom conditions and the results indicate that the proper utilization of social networks and web 2.0 tools in terms ofstudents´ active engagement can motivate and improve students´ learning.
