Abstract :
In this paper, we have proposed a compact and efficient miniaturized dual band implantable antenna for bio-telemetry products/devices. Antenna design is optimized to work on dual bands that permits antenna to shift between two modes i.e., sleep and wakeup to preserve energy and surge the overall lifespan of an implant. Medical Implant Communication Service (MICS) (402-405 MHz) for transmission and Industrial Scientific Medical (ISM) (2.4-2.48 GHz) for reception of signals are reserved for medical industrial antenna designs and are used to avoid interference with other devices during radiation. The Computer Simulation Technology (CST) simulator that is based on Method of Moments (MoM) was used for antenna design. The proposed antenna is compact in size and is optimized to radiate at MICS and ISM bands with very low reflection loss by taking the parametric constraints from particle swarm optimization technique. High Frequency Structural Simulator (HFSS) based on Finite Element Method (FEM) is used to simulate the design of antenna. HFSS combines finite-element boundary integral electromagnetic simulation code with the optimization technique to maximize the antenna performance at the desired frequency bands.
