Abstract :
Diffraction Fringes formed by Laser through small gap can be used in detection field such as online tool setting during machining. And the detection technology for a sharp tool tip toward the workpiece surface is researched in this paper. The application of Fraunhofer diffraction theory for tool setting is firstly introduced, and the tool-setting experiment scheme of sharp diamond tool for workpiece plane is designed and performed. Finally, the diffraction phenomena of arc diamond tool and sharp diamond tool are contrast to depict the difference, so that we can know some unique characteristics of the sharp diamond tool for ultra-precision machining. The work in this paper lays a foundation for the further quantity research on online tool setting of the shape tool with high precision.
